The following is a true story and I hope that someone reads it that can either point me in the right direction or offer a solution.

My new husband, Bob (we were married on August 16, 2006) had a one true love before he met me.  This love was his 1979 Corvette that he affectionately referred to as “Coralee”.  When I met Bob in 2004, his Corvette was in a monthly-paid storage shed, perfectly polished and we would visit her on weekends when the weather was permitting. This car only came out to go on short rides, entered in car shows, and if he wanted to ‘show off’.
In 2005, Bob had the car registered in the state of Pennsylvania as a collectible car.  When he bought the car in 1989 (he paid $1000 for it) it was wrecked and not running.  He put every dime into that car and restored the engine and body and added a few personal touches, such as his blower on the hood, a flaked paint job (“mini-fireball”) and he was involved with all of the repairs and restoration of this car.  Luckily he had friends who knew a lot about cars, and his stepfather, Tim had a body shop.
Bob sunk every penny he had into that car, and finally had it exactly like he wanted it.  It was running like a champ and couldn’t wait for the summer of 2006!  We bought a house in April, 2006 with a 2-car garage and he was so happy that he didn’t have to pay storage any longer and could see “Coralee” every single day.
One day, he noticed a bubble in the paint on the hood of the car.  He called Tim (who did the paint job) and asked if we could bring the car to his shop and if he could have it fixed in time for the summer.  This was on May 17th.  That weekend, we drove the car to McDonald, PA and dropped the car off.
Tim has unfortunately had some drinking related issues in the past and did not have a current driver’s license. Fixing the paint job would not require the car to be moved.  So, Bob informed him that he did not have permission to drive the car, that we only had liability on the Corvette, and that we wanted it back before the Johnstown Airport Car Show on August 20th.
On July 30th, Bob received the worst phone call he could ever expect.  His mother called to tell him that Tim took the car out the day before and it was wrecked.  Bob asked, “Is this a sick joke?”  He was then told that Tim was drinking, ran from the police, and wrecked the car.  We then found out that he did damage to a fence and telephone pole, and the damage to the car is in excess of $8,000.   Tim is now in jail.  Bob has filed civil charges for “Unlawful Use of Vehicle” and personal damages.  However, we later found out that Tim’s body shop isn’t insured and he has no money or assets that we can get toward payment of the damages.  We are told that he will be responsible for the repairs but that he will probably have to make payment arrangements and that doesn’t really do much good while he is in jail.  In the meantime, we have this wrecked Corvette in our garage, and obviously we can’t afford to fix it.
I am sick to my stomach about it and am faced with having to deal with Bob on a daily basis.  I didn’t know if anyone had any ideas, or any suggestions.

part it out, ie. strip car and sell/ebay pieces. If you cant afford to rebuild it, selling it piece by piece will get the most return on money.
any way,,, you should post the name of tims shop so no one else goes thru that.

I think you should sell it by parts.
