We have a 1979 Corvette L48 w/auto transmission. We are considering a Chevy Perf Parts ZZ4 engine with Holley carb and 700r4 transmission. I know that we will probably have to delete the original air cleaner and go with low profile version. We want to use block hugger headers and keep our Flow Master exhaust.
What installation concerns we need be aware of. Any thoughts?

I'm doing this right now...
1. Yes you'll need a different air cleaner. I bought mine from GM.
2. Flex plate that comes on the ZZ4 will not match the 700R4. Get one from an 82.
3. Get a A/T dipstick from an 82.
4. Realize you'll need to cut your drive shaft around 3 inches depending on the tail of the 700r4.
5. Shift adapter kit so the lower gears will work with the new tranny.
6. TV cable is different
7. Internal wiring harness from Bowtie overdrives
8. You'll need a different tranny crossmember
