SORRY TO HEAR THAT SO MANY OF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH YOUR CFI. I OWN AN "84" WITH 165000 MILES ON IT AND FOR 205HP RUNS LIKE A CHAMP.I DONT KNOW IF ANY OF YOU MISSED WITH THE THROTLE BODIES BUT I WAS TOLD NOT TO LET ANYONE TOUCH THEM UNLESS THEY NEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING BECAUSE ONCE THEY ARE MESSED UP GOOD LUCK GETTING THEM RIGHT.I HATE TO SEE YOU CHANGE OVER TO CARB BECAUSE THAT IS NOT WHAT THESE CARS ARE ALL ABOUT AND I HATE TO SEE IT WHEN SOMEONE HAS MODIFIED A CORVETTE FROM ORIGINAL.MAY BE YOU SHOULD JUST TRY AND SELL IT AND BUY AN "85"

I did it and heres how. Get a good quality FP regulator, make sure it has a return hole it otherwise you will burn up your intank pump, 6 LBS is the magic number for the carb. Edelbrock only makes one intake manifold that will fit under a 82 stock hood. Pick up a good HEI vacum advance distributor. Use 81 throttle linkage. Jerk the computer out from in back of the drivers seat. On the firewall under the Black plastic cover is all the wireing for that god awful system. Cut em all except the black ones, send them to ground, frame preferably. If you have any questions feel free to give me a shout. Mark 509 965-6275

I HAVE AN 84. GOT IT OUT FROM UNDER A TREE(fALLEN) I PUT A COMPUTER AND IGNITION MODULE + PLUGS, WIRES, CAP AND BUTTON. IT RAN FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS. PULLED ABOUT 98 IN 1/4 MILE NOW IT RUNS LIKE ITS OUT OF TIME CHECKED WITH 1PISTON AT TOP, MARK SEEMS TO LINE UP AND THE ROTOR BUTTON IS POINTING AT #1 PLUG WIRE ON THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

HI guys long time for me being on this forum, Because I sold my 84 Vette.
Very Nice C4 Vette.
Good Luck to all 84 Vette owners looking to switch over from CFI to Carb.

i seem to recall that there are LOW PROFILE air cleaners available... they fit tight down over the top of most holley carbs.. look for ones with dents for the center hung float bowls ..
K&N air filters makes some with only 2.75" inches over the air filter mounting ring...
http://www.knfilters.com/Racing/14inch.htm
i had a factory version on an late 60's or early 70's big block chevy..
you might be able to get lower than that by going to a race carb without a choke horn... but you have to know how to start it cold and maintain a fast idle till it gets warm...

Hey everyone. I have an 84 that was converted to an Edelbrock carb/intake setup. For under hood clearance, I used a Mr. Gasket air cleaner, part #4339. It's a low profile cleaner that only raises 2 inches above the carb. Fits perfect. The air cleaner was around $46 from Summit Racing. Oh, and it's a 14 inch one, too.

i can understand.. that if you only have a 72 mustang.. that you would need assistance.. in that area...
but the rest of these guys have Corvettes.. they Don't need assistance.. except for the guy with the 4 door vette.. as he could get more enjoyables in the car with him.. so after an evening drifting... he might need some assistance..
