I am trying to take the steering column out without cutting or destroying anything but not having much success just wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on the procedure Thanks Jerry

Hi quiker.  I realize this is a 'way late' reply to your question, and you've probably found out the solution by now anyway, but I thought I'd respond just in case.  As you probably know by now, your steering column isn't going anywhere unless you make some room for it.  The solution came along later in the C1 production, but for your '54, you either have to cut the bottom of the dash, the left inner fender skirt, or lift the body.  I hope you've come to a solution to your problem by now, but just in case, there's my two cents.  Good luck to you.
