Hello, still working on my 1991 corvette tach problem . I have since replaced the ignition coil and the module in the distributor, problem still exists. When you start the car the tach goes straight to 6000. If I unplug the tach terminal at the distributor it moves about a half inch . thanks any help appreciated

Hi, Ok the tach should be on zero , key on without the engine running. You start the engine and the tach goes to 6000, does it stay there, or does it go higher when you rev it up.If it stay there your tach circuit on the main circuit board is bad. If it goes up and pegs the meter there is a calibrating resistor that is bad, also if you disconnect the tach lead from the distributor, the tach needle should go back to zero. JOHN
