I have a 1960 with two tops. I want to find out if my convertible top material is original. It certainly looks old.
The heat-embossed printing on the rear plastic window reads: REGALITE AS-6 1- H (or I- H, with a space between the - and H) Do not rub dry wash with water soaked cloth.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Van

Hi David, thanks for the help. The embossing on my top's rear window is exactly as I wrote earlier "Regalite AS-6 I- H". No other numbers or code. If I can figure out how to upload a photo to this site, I'll do it so you can see and perhaps give me a clue. The top definitely looks like it could be from 1960. Thanks! Van

Hi Van,
There is no part of your vehicle VIN in the back window of your car! Your back window is correct with the REGALITE trademark in it, as some early '60s cars had that, but most were VINYLITE. They all had AS-6 embossed in them, with a date format of 4-0 (April 60) as an example. The Dealer warning and cleaning instruction tag had a single-pass of stitching holding it on the lower left portion of the rear of the conv. top. Sounds like you have a gennie of a top.
