can anyone tell me if an optispark distributor is going bad, what can i expect? does it go bad all at once, or can it go bad intermittantly? my car is starting to run rich and cuts out once in a while. it is at the mechanics, but he cant get the problem to duplicate. how can an optispark be checked to determine if i need a new one. thanks,  steve

well i have seen opti's with intermitent problems and i have also seen them go bad all at once,i have also had ac delco optis right out of the box be bad, the opti is prone to failure, heat, moisture, water, and it should have been a gm recall,so we know thats not going to happen, myself and everbody in our vette club have changed over to the MSD opti and so far no problems, how many miles on your vette and do you have any codes??
