every once in a while when i turn key to start, nothing happens no noise or nothing ,then after awhile it starts like normal, its been doing this for 4 months ive replaced battery, starter, solenoid, and ignition switch, its a 1987 vette, i wonder about the resistor chip in the key but its a random thing ,always after sitting for hours, dash lites up and every thing works just wont crank and if i jump across solinoid it cranks but wont start then after 10 minutes or up to an hour later it starts like normal and wont happen again for a couple days has anyone ever seen this before?

the anti thieft module locks every body out for 4 minutes...
here is a diagram of the wiring.. http://econtent.autozone.com:24991/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images//0900c152/80/08/fd/a1//large/0900c1528008fda1.gif
to verify... pick up a new vats lock cylinder... it will have a non pellet key...take the new lock and key to your locksmith... have them measure the original key ... have them cut the new locks key on a resistor blank ... then you have everything ready to swap in a new lock cylinder... no running around ... no high dollar service calls..
with this new lock... you can pull the knee pad out... unplug the wires from the original still installed lock cylinder.. plug in the new lock cylinder wiring..
put your original key in the lock that is still installed... and see if the car starts.. again and again... if it solves your problem... you can then just install the new cylinder and when you go to start it ... everything should work perfect...
