I have spent over 4K on this car, it acts like its out of gas on cold start if I let it sit for more than a couple days. Tried new injectors, fuel pump,ECM,Mas,relays, cold start motor, fuel filter, nothing seems to help!! Car has 30K miles and has been stored in garage for most of its last 5 years due to this problem.Been to Chev. dealer and local garage who claims to be the guru of chevys, same results, no change!!Throws NO codes and once warm is fine. Holds very good pressure at rails and shows no signs of electical problems, other than the fact if it sits more than a week the battery goes dead, so I keep a maintainer on it? ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Fred I don't have a solution but I'll be interested in what you find out. I have a 88 with 21K mi. with the same symtoms. Because I drive it so little I haven't done a lot of research. To me it seems to act like the fuel rails are leaking down into the cylinders and flooding them then when starting it takes time to clean out the cylinders and get the rail up to pressure, just my impression. But since you have replaced all that I am at a loss.

We are at a total loss of more things to try, but the good news was I was driving it the other day and it finally threw a code. It told us there is an air flow inadequacy error. We are trying to find out its cause, hopefully it will go out altogether!!It is probably something dumb!! You can send me your e-mail address and I'll inform you of what we finally find. Fred629@comcast.net Use corvette as topic or i may not open it! Thanx, Fred

About the only thing left is the fuel pressure regulator, but if it holds pressure, that doesn't seem like it would be that. Does it start if you turn on the key to prime lines before you start it? I had a bad FPR, though mine would lose pressure immediately after pump quits.

I have an 84 that had the same symptoms. Took it into GM they changed the tps but that didn't help. Took it home and cleaned the IAC's and sprayed down the injectors and throttle body. Starts good now when cold. I also put two bottles of injector cleaner to a tank of fuel. Did this for a couple of tanks of fuel.

Takes four things to make a engine run: 1.Fuel 2.Compression 3.Air 4.Spark Now we must find the one that is not doing it's job on start up. We can rule out compression and air. Put a fuel pressure gauge on. Turn the key to run and see if it builds fuel pressure. The ecm should turn on the fuel pump for 15 secounds then turn off. If not you can apply 12 volt to the aldl connector to activate the fuel pump. The sevice manual can show what terminal. If there is fuel pressure see if it holds.
Check to see if there is spark when cranking. Let me know what you come up with. This will narrow it down. Thanks Curtis
