i got a 85 vette that when i start it it idles fine for about 20 secs then it acts like it runs rich and starts trying to die if i keep my foot on gas it will stay runnning if i take it off it will die. If i pump on the gas (which is wat i have to do to get it to start back up) and try to start it it takes about 10 secs then start and runs really rough. Then dies out after that i cant get it to start back up like its flooded.

I had fuel in oil so i changed that.

Has any 1 had this problem before or could give some advise????

It sounds as if you have bad injectors which is common for the age of the car. TPIS has the best pricing on injectors. Stay away from the accel injectors as they are cheap in every sense of the word.

To verify the injectors you will need to clamp the return line on the fuel rail. This is difficult as the flex line is under the water pump but can be done with needle nosed vise grips if carefully applied. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and time how long it takes to leak down from 40-45 lbs. There should be less than 20lbs in 20 minutes leak down.

Replacement of these injectors is not any easy task and may be best to have a mechanic perform this repair.

i would say invest in a fuel pressure tester...   on TPI motors there is a fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail...   and i am talking about a fuel injection fuel pressure tester... about 30 bucks at most parts stores... has a long clear hose to drain the excess pressure...

all this to watch the fuel pressure...

it could also be the fuel pump... the fuel pump relay.. the oil pressure switch or sending unit..   the what...

the fuel pump relay on most models.. comes on when the ecm sees cranking signal from the ignition switch...    some models it stays on ... others.. it drops out of the circuit...

but how does the fuel pump get power when running down the road...

the oil pressure switch or sending unit has 3 terminals...   one that is hooked to the oil pressure gauge or light..

the other 2 terminals power the fuel pump when the oil pressure is up...  these have gone bad before...   and do the weird start and  die problem....

it takes less than an hour to change the fuel pump on a C4... right through the fuel door when you take it off and the overflow boot out..

got a scan tool?????     one that will talk to your car... you need it... they are still available... really makes fixing these cars easier...
