Is there another year or model (maybe Caddie) that is an easy install/replacement for my straight shaft steering column?

I replaced the straight shaft column on my 72 with a tilt-tele from a comparable year obtained from a guy dealing in used corvette parts (Corvette City). I believe you can now get new aftermarket units from ididit or flaming river. Fairly simple install.

about half way down on this link... is a word document that will download that describes installing the later columns into the early C3's

there are also a bunch on this google search...

i work on a lot of columns.. tilt, t&t.. i just love them... one of the funny things that happened.. a shop swapped on a reman steering box on this ford van... they called me up to fix the column.. as it steered backwards after they installed the reman steering box.. yes... it is possible if the parts inside get mixed up.. that was a great day... the guy at the parts store thought i was nuts also.. told me there's no way it would work backwards.. i must have installed it wrong.... yes i run into great problems..
oh... and if one has a tilt unit... and want's a T&T.... it is possible to swap on cad parts above the pivot... including the upper shaft... you can also go the other way... if you don't want the T&T... swapping back to just tilt..
