I have a 1985 with 56k miles and sits a lot. Recently after getting it out of storage when going into reverse I heard a grinding indicating that it wasnt fully releasing. If I pump the peddle 4-5 times it works fine. Thoughts... Clutch master, slave, air in the system (fluid bowl is full & show no signs of leaks).

try bleeding the clutch system.... running some fresh fluid through it...
and yes .. it might be going bad...
i just took a peek at what the clutch master looks like...

i have run into these before... they tend to wear a groove in the top of the bore... so you don't get full displacement of fluid...
before you change your clutch master... flush the clutch hydraulic system completely .... work the clutch pedal while you are bleeding the system.. or prior to it... to get all the aluminum particles floating in the fluid..
this same clutch master cylinder or a similar model is used on 90 jeep cherokees... they also had hard to shift problems...
i bet that if you take a Qtip and stir it around the bottom of the tank you will find aluminum particles..
the on the jeeps... we always got the wagner brake version as they are castiron.. and do not wear...
you might want to replace it... with another aluminum version... and think about sending this one out for a brass or stainless sleeve.. but you don't drive it very much.. and it should last for another decade...
