So I just finished rebuilding the top end of my 91' coupe and the engine runs great, with one rather minor flaw. No coolant circulates at all, my water pump is good and I flushed all the lines with no blockage. According to Andy Bolig's article Curing L98 Tuned Port Intake Leaks - Stop The Seep he says to use the Fel-Pro gasket set PN-MS93318 which I used, but the only thing I can think of is that the manifold gaskets are wrong and they are blocking the coolant flow. And when I looked on Ecklers their gasket is open on both ends instead of just one http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?pf_id=22807&dept_id=1261. any ideas? help is appreciated

the gasket you linked to... has one end blocked....

which end did you install the block at.. it goes toward the back of the motor .. not the front...

here is the fel pro gasket set

so... did you block the front or the rear of the engine??????

here is the head gasket...

they seem to be regular chevy head gaskets..  were they marked front?????

with the thermostat installed... you probably won't be able to see any coolant circulation....     do you have a scan tool that will plug into this model???

i think the fans normally turn on at 228F or 238F ...   it has to have a 195F thermostat.. the only way to tell is with a scan tool...

srry i said top end but i just redid the intake manifold gaskets. and on the fel pro gaskets ther is a logo saying this side up and rear which i followed to a T. finally i tried running it without a thermostat completely and no coolant was flowing. by scan tool do you mean one that plugs into the aldl connector like a genesis, also do you kno by chance which ones are the correct gaskets because they both say they r for L98 but the fel pros are blocked obviously and the ecklers arent?
thanks

edit: I just replaced water pump last night so ill let u kno if that fixes it when silicone dries

if you looked really close... both brands are blocked on one end...

just a thought.. since you changed the water pump.... have you filled the system yet????

can you push a garden hose up the pump opening.. and see if it comes out the thermostat opening????/
