gas indicator in dashboard

sometimes even with full tank the gas indicator goes to empty and I have to restart the engine.
even with this problem the car goes ok.
I do not know if the problem is with the gas pump or only with the dashboard indicator.

what year vette.. is it a digital dash board???
there are a few articles on repairing the digital dash board problems..
post a year... so we are not just guessing...

The model year is 1998 coupe manual.
The dashboard is not digital.

it may not be digital but it is electronic...
can you access
alldatadiy.com
eautorepair.net
autozone.com...
the first 2 have almost complete factory information ..
the autozone site has significant stuff if they have not removed it..
i keep pointing people that way.. they keep removing more info..
there have been other problems like you describe.. i will check around and see..
but
bad grounds... loose connections.. dirty or corroded internal connections.. bad ignition switches have been blamed and sometimes found to be major problem makers..

I will consult the options that You gave me.
As you can imagine there are not many places in Mexico city that have a real knowledge of this type of car.
The GMC distributors are expensive and They try to replace pieces instead of repair them.

I also have the same problem with a 2004 gas guage on empty and low fuel comes on.It comes and goes,but has not done for the last 6-7 fillups.I thought it could be related to letting fuel get to low. WAYNE
