Replaced the TPS and pigtail. Replaced the sensor in the right head(thought this was for the guage) Presto, car runs great, and no error codes. So as I see it every sensor in the vehicle was replaced. Doesen't bother me much though given the condition of the sensors and the wiring to each one. There is not a lot of air flow under that hood, and 25 years of heat will do extreme damaage to the wires and sensors. I do however need to recheck the timing, as it sounds like it might be retarded a little, hard to hear on that motor. I can maily hear it when it first starts. I set it at 6 btc, but also did so with a non inductive light. I will get my habds on and inductive light, and recheck, hoping not to find any mechanical issues. One thing I was wondering, is it common for the oil pressure to drop into the 20's when hot at an idle? I have never payed atttention before.

when these engine idle.. they do so at 500 or so rpms... so 20 psi.. is ok...
harbor freight has a 30 buck timing light with adjustable advance.. makes it really easy to set your timing... item 40963... they have a big ad on the right side of this page right now.. so they are also supporting this forum... i have one and love it..
it is possible that you may have to pull the fan belt and smog pump to set base timing ... the smog pump in in the way.. the engine can run for long a minute without coolant circulation.. when it is cold.. remember to jumper the A-B terminals on the ALDL connector under the dash..
i am really glad you finally got it done and it works like it should..
hopefully our thread here will help other crossfire owners...
i don't know if i said this before.. but the crossfire was abandoned by gm.. but the system is just a TBI system and works like every other TBI system and also works like the TPI system in most aspects..
