Hi All,
My 1984 has recently developed a problem where it starts a little hard, then will idle "okay", but losses power and wants to die when given any throttle. Upon inspection, I noticed that only one of the two throttle bodies is pumping gas. Is this normal at idle? Or should gas be coming from both? Even when I increase the throttle by pulling on the cable, still no gas from the second throttle body, and of course, the butterfly for that side just sucks air. Thoughts?
Thanks a ton!
John

do you have the tools and ability to take them off and replace the orings.. gaskets, filters, pressure regulators ...

have you  replaced the fuel filter...

the gas really should be coming from both evenly...

there are several great articles on crossfire motors... how to make them run...

i also want to know.. if you have a vacuum gauge.. and can check the intake manifold vacuum... several have had blocked cats... where the first section started to crumble and block the second... removing the ability to breathe.....

with the engine idling..  look at the vacuum gauge.. bring the RPMS up slowly.. see if the vacuum increases.. or decreases...

you can also many times hear a difference at the back of the car...

replacement cats are available direct bolt on for around 200 to 240... these bolt on.. without cutting.. and can be done in your driveway with hand tools and some wd40...
