I am having trouble removing the automatic shifter knob on my 70 Corvette coupe. It seems to unscrew but than it just won't come off. I am afraid to pull too hard on it for fear of breaking it or losing a spring or some other small part. Can any enthusiast help with some advice? Thanks guys.

hmm... new ones are available.. so if you break it.. you can get one..

i seem to recall that they unscrew also...
